Radio competence through immersive practice

OpusATC helps you build practical radio skills at your own pace, developing proficiency that translates directly to the cockpit. We are on a mission to elevate flight training outcomes through simulations that are accessible and fun.

Our philosophy

How we think about our place in the flight training landscape.

  1. Deep simulation that fits in your pocket.

Effective simulations can meaningfully reduce real-world training costs and create safer pilots. Conventional flight simulators require expensive hardware and effort to set up. We are committed to simulations that are accessible and portable, without compromising depth or immersion.

Build transferable skills from anywhere, whether you have 5 minutes or an hour.

  2. Obsess over the details.

None of our ATC phraseology or procedures are AI-generated. From our approach to modeling local airport nuances, to nerding out over the 7110.65, we are on a mission to build the most realistic radio communications simulator on the market. We've worked closely with DPEs, chief pilots and CFIs across part 141/61 programs, and airline and military pilots to vet and refine our training scenarios.

Learn with phraseology and procedures that are backed by the 7110.65 and aligned with experience from thousands of hours of instruction.

  3. Support partners on the frontline.

OpusATC is rooted in a love for aviation and a desire to see more aspiring aviators realize their dreams. We believe the highest impact is through collaborative partnerships that improve student outcomes and lower the barriers to entry.

Are you part of a nonprofit flying club or student aviation group? We love to sponsor groups that share our mission. Reach out to explore how we can support your students.

As a student pilot learning to fly at a Class C airport, I found talking on the radio the most challenging and anxiety-inducing part of my training. I tried every radio communications resource I could find, but was left disappointed with existing solutions. As I continued flying, I encountered the same story again and again. Talking on the radio is hard and scary, and outdated recommendations aren’t helping enough.

After spending a decade working as a software engineer and product manager, I started building the radio comms training platform I wish I’d had as a student. It’s incredibly rewarding that students and instructors are seeing a difference with OpusATC, and we can’t wait to help more pilots feel confident on the radio!
